UNG to present ‘An Evening with Samuel Barber’ vocal recital
The University of North Georgia’s Department of Music will present “An Evening with Samuel Barber”, a free public concert celebrating the vocal works of one of America’s most revered composers, on Thursday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Gloria Shott Performance Hall on the Dahlonega Campus. The recital will feature soprano Camden Pruitt and lyric baritone Benjamin Schoening, accompanied by pianist Vivian Doublestein, in a program that explores themes of love and piety found throughout Barber’s vocal compositions. Barber, best known for his “Adagio for Strings” and the Pulitzer Prize-winning opera “Vanessa”, is recognized as one of the 20th century’s most significant American composers.
